Tesla’s Sold-Out $55 Shattered Cybertruck Decal, Inspired by Past Window Mishap

Tesla Inc capitalizes on a memorable past mishap, with its US$55 (RM256) Cybertruck window decal quickly selling out within hours. The decal pays homage to the Cybertruck’s unveiling in November 2019 when CEO Elon Musk’s expletive reaction followed design chief Franz von Holzhausen inadvertently shattering one of the truck’s windows during a strength demonstration.

In a playful twist, Musk invited von Holzhausen to attempt a redo on November 30, using a baseball instead. The Cybertruck’s metal-glass window successfully withstood the impact. Alongside reopening reservations for the pickup, Tesla launched an accessories page featuring items ranging from the popular $55 decal to $6,500 (RM30,322) color wraps.

This window decal joins a quirky lineup of accessories that Musk’s ventures have introduced over the years, including unconventional items like burnt hair perfume, short shorts, and flamethrowers.
