CUPERTINO: During its ‘Wanderlust’ event, Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Series 9, both of which introduce a novel double tap gesture.
But what exactly is this feature, and how will it enhance the user experience?
This innovative feature simplifies and streamlines the use of the watch.
With the introduction of the new double tap gesture, users can effortlessly control the Apple Watch Series 9 using just one hand, without the need to touch the display.
By simply tapping their index finger and thumb together twice, users can perform a wide range of common actions on the Apple Watch Series 9 with ease and convenience. The double tap gesture serves as a control mechanism for the primary button within an app. It can be used to halt a timer, play or pause music, or snooze an alarm.
Moreover, this gesture allows users to answer or end phone calls and even capture photos using the Camera Remote feature on the Apple Watch. Additionally, a double tap will open the Smart Stack from the watch face, and another double tap will navigate through widgets in the stack.
The implementation of this new double tap gesture is made possible by the enhanced Neural Engine in the Apple Watch Series 9. This Neural Engine efficiently processes data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and optical heart sensor through a new machine learning algorithm.
The Apple Watch Series 9 comes in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm, and is offered in a variety of colors, including starlight, midnight, silver, (PRODUCT)RED, and a new pink aluminum case. It is also available in stainless steel with gold, silver, and graphite cases. The starting price is S$599, and it will be accessible soon.
Meanwhile, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 will be obtainable in a 49mm variant, offering carbon-neutral options when combined with the new Trail Loop or Alpine Loop bands. It will be priced at S$1,199.
